Getting Certified

When it comes to safely operating a motorized watercraft, Certification means a lot more than just a word. It means that you’re a responsible person who cares about doing what’s needed for your safety, your passengers, and other boaters sharing our waterways.

Certification also means that you’ve taken and passed a boater safety course that is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), ensuring that your training meets national boating safety standards. And by completing your boating safety course, you’ll get either your personalized Boater Education Card or a Boating Safety Certificate, depending on your state.

Watch this video below to get a sense of what it’s like to take either an online or classroom-based course. When you’re done, follow your pathways to certification.
